When Science Meets Spirituality: My Transformative Journey

As we journey through our lives, we're drawn to books, ideas, places, or people who inevitably change the fabric of our existence. These catalysts are unique to each of us, opening doors to wondrous learnings and adventures.

I've always tried to embrace new ideas—some I keep, some I set aside—but I continually welcome the opening of my soul's journey, marvelling at where I might find myself in the days, months, and years ahead.

For over twenty years, I've been exploring the fascinating frontier where science and spirituality converge. This journey began on a highway between Newcastle, NSW and Forster, where I was heading to visit my daughter, who was expecting my first grandchild. It's hard to believe that was over two decades ago!

It was my habit to listen to audiobooks while driving. To my dismay, my story ended shortly into the trip, leaving me with questionable radio options or overthinking in my mind. Then I tuned into an interview with Professor Bruce Lipton.

As I listened, something resonated deeply—I felt I already knew the truth of what he was saying. When he spoke about his journey into epigenetics and how we are NOT victims of our genes or bound to suffer the fate of our parents and grandparents, I knew this was research I needed to understand more deeply.

Upon arriving in Forster (after wonderful greetings and hugs), I rushed inside and wrote down names and book titles, eager to explore this work. I quickly ordered "The Biology of Belief," Professor Lipton's book, and devoured every available lecture on YouTube and anything else I could find.

The implications of Professor Lipton's research radically changed my understanding of life. His work "shows that genes and DNA do not control our biology; instead, DNA is controlled by signals from outside the cell, including the energetic messages emanating from our positive and negative thoughts"!

Imagine the power this knowledge holds—the ability to shed old patterns and negative programming, to finally heal ourselves body, mind, and soul. This research has been liberating for me, challenging conventional science, and ultimately leading me to the work I do today.

Vancouver: Where Everything Changed

In 2018, I received an email about a Science and Spirituality conference in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, Canada. I remember telling my husband, "I'm not sure how, but I'm going to this conference." There was no question—I was going.

We planned a journey through the Canadian Rockies, ending on Vancouver Island for what would become a life-changing, five-day experience. Being surrounded by over 1,200 people immersed in this frontier of science and spirituality was truly incredible.

The conference featured remarkable speakers: Gregg Braden, Joe Dispenza, Lynne McTaggart, and Lee Carroll, channelling Kryon. Gregg Braden, a five-time New York Times best-selling author and pioneer bridging science and human potential, wrote of "The Biology of Belief": "Powerful, Elegant and Simple! Dr. Bruce Lipton offers nothing less than the long-sought-after 'missing link' between life and consciousness."

The highlight was attending Professor Lipton's lecture. For over ninety minutes, he held the audience spellbound. We laughed, cried, and learned as he took us through his research into epigenetics, ultimately providing evidence for the existence of something greater than ourselves. All 1,200 attendees rose to their feet, applauding this remarkable man and his life-changing work.

After the lecture, I had the opportunity to meet Professor Lipton—a moment I treasure. When I thanked him for changing my life, he simply looked at me and said, "No, you did that for yourself."

I also shared incredible learning moments with the other speakers, including Lynne McTaggart, an American alternative medicine author and journalist who wrote "The Field," "The Intention Experiment," and "The Power of 8." My husband, David, and I now run a weekly Intention Group based on Lynne's work.

Lynne is an American alternative medicine author, publisher, journalist, lecturer and activist. She is the author of six books, including The Field, The Intention Experiment and The Power of 8, and is the co-creator of the alternative medicine magazine What Doctors Don't Tell You.

Bringing the Journey Home

Leaving Canada, I said I would never be the same again—what an understatement.

I returned home enlightened, back to "chopping wood and carrying water," wondering how I could maintain the beautiful energy I had experienced during those five precious days.

In the years that followed, I worked at the Australian Academy of Science, meeting remarkable individuals dedicated to scientific research. Often, I'd hear scientists describe how inspiration for their work came from dreams, quiet moments on a beach, or seemingly unrelated conversations. I was frequently tempted to take these discussions deeper, but chose instead to appreciate the beauty of how life unfolds.

This ongoing journey has connected me with some of the greatest minds on our planet. I continue to explore the work of those I met in Canada, applying their research and knowledge to my life every day.

There is much I don't know, but one thing is certain: today, more than ever, people need to find their inner peace. Whatever life throws at us, we can benefit from holding a deeper knowing—understanding of our needs, setting boundaries,

processing our emotions, and stepping into life without fear.
